What Changed in the Latest Patch

The latest NBA 2K25 patch shook up the meta in a big way. 2K adjusted shooting timings, tightened close shot windows, and tweaked several badge efficiencies — meaning builds that were dominant last month may be struggling now, while overlooked archetypes are suddenly popping off in the Park and Rec.

Here's our updated tier list based on post-patch testing across Park, Rec, and Pro-Am.

S-Tier Builds After the Patch

These builds are the best of the best right now. If you want to dominate, these are where to start.

1. Two-Way Playmaking Slasher (PG) — Still King

Despite attempts to nerf finishers, the Two-Way Playmaking Slasher at Point Guard remains the most versatile build in the game. The combination of 90+ ball handle, 85+ speed, and enough perimeter defense to stay on the court makes this build nearly irreplaceable.

See our Curry Clone build for a shooter variation of this archetype.

2. Pure Sharp Shooter (SG) — Patch Winner

The patch buffed mid-range shooting windows slightly, and pure sharp shooters at SG are the biggest beneficiaries. With a consistent green window from deep and the ability to pull up off the dribble, this archetype is terrorizing defenders in Rec right now.

A-Tier Builds After the Patch

These builds are strong and effective. You won't be at a disadvantage using them — they just have a specific weakness that keeps them out of S-tier.

3. 3-and-D Wing (SF) — Consistent Performer

Nothing fancy, just results. The 3-and-D Wing at Small Forward is the glue player every competitive team needs. Post-patch, the slightly tightened interior defense windows actually benefit this archetype since it forces opponents to play outside.

4. Stretch Big (PF) — Still Viable Post-Patch

The stretch PF lost a little with the mid-range timing adjustments, but 90+ 3-point ratings still produce enough greens to stay dangerous. Pair with a playmaking PG who can kick it out and this build is a nightmare for defenses.

B-Tier Builds (Still Fun, Just Not Optimal)

5. Inside Scorer / Paint Beast (C)

Pure paint beasts took a hit this patch — close shot windows are tighter and finish-through-contact dunks are slightly harder to activate. They're still viable, especially in offline modes and lower-level Rec, but top-tier Rec and Pro-Am will punish the lack of perimeter threat.

6. Mid-Range Maestro (SG/SF)

Mid-range builds benefited slightly from the patch, but the meta still punishes single-dimensional builds. Fun to use? Absolutely. Optimal? Probably not in competitive play.

What Got Nerfed: Builds to Reconsider

These were strong before the patch but have dropped off:

Bottom Line

Post-patch, the meta rewards versatility. Builds that can do two things well are beating builds that do one thing great. If you're starting a new build, lean toward the Two-Way Slasher or Pure Sharp Shooter and don't neglect your defense — it's more important than ever.
